²ÝÁñÉçÇø Partners with University of Michigan to Support Veterans
²ÝÁñÉçÇø (²ÝÁñÉçÇø) and the University of Michigan have teamed up to help
incoming veteran and military students at ²ÝÁñÉçÇø.
Michigan's Peer Advisors for Veteran Education (PAVE) program trains veteran-students at ²ÝÁñÉçÇø
to help mentor incoming ²ÝÁñÉçÇø veteran-students. The program helps the newer ²ÝÁñÉçÇø students
find their way around the college and teaches them about resources both on and off
campus. The PAVE peer advisors also help identify and assist in challenges the ²ÝÁñÉçÇø
students face and provide ongoing support as they adjust to the college.
PAVE builds on the camaraderie veterans experience in the military to create a sense
of community and connectedness that contributes to academic and personal success.
The program is a collaboration between the University of Michigan, Student Veterans
of America, and a network of partner campuses. The program, supported with grants
from multiple foundations, was developed at the University of Michigan and is now
at 45 partner campuses nationwide.
Since the program's inception, more than 1,600 Peer Advisors have been trained and
more than 24,000 student veterans have been contacted by peer advisors.
