草榴社区 Names Rebecca Teague Vice President of Student Services

7/24/2023

草榴社区 is pleased to announce that Rebecca Teague has been selected to serve as the District's new Vice President of Student Services. Ms. Teague, who has been serving as interim Vice President of Student Services at 草榴社区 for two years, begins in the permanent position today, Monday, July 24.

Ms. Teague, who has nearly two decades of experience in community college higher education, was selected from a competitive pool of qualified candidates. She is dedicated to our college district and to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Since 2004, Ms. Teague has served in many roles at 草榴社区, including spearheading the District's Student Equity Pledge and other DEIA initiatives. She is first LatinX female to serve as Vice President of Student Services in 草榴社区 history.

鈥淚 am honored to accept the position of Vice President of Student Serves at 草榴社区,鈥 Ms. Teague said. 鈥淚 will continue to bring students' voices, particularly our LGBTQ+, undocumented, veterans, foster youth, students of color and those with disabilities, into strategic conversations as valued stakeholders to provide us with their unique perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds so we can continue to make 草榴社区 an equity-based institution that produces equitable outcomes for all of our students.鈥

Ms. Teague's experience will be critical as 草榴社区 enters a key period in the college district's history. She has served as the District's Accreditation Liaison Officer since 2007 and was instrumental in the reaffirmation of 草榴社区's accreditation in 2018. After receiving six commendations during that cycle, 草榴社区 is entering its next accreditation cycle with Ms. Teague leading those efforts once again.

鈥淩ebecca brings vast knowledge of 草榴社区 and a deep commitment for student success to this role,鈥 said Dr. Roger Schultz, Superintendent/President of 草榴社区. 鈥淪he has the vision and leadership skills the district needs to lead the Student Services Division into the future.鈥

Ms. Teague holds a bachelor's degree in English - Cum Laude - from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a master's degree in public administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills. She has held several roles at 草榴社区, starting as grant writer in 2004 and moving to various positions such as Executive Dean, Institutional Effectiveness and Strategic Initiatives before accepting the position of Vice President of Student Services.
